Ninja says most of its pitchers, lids and blade assemblies are dishwasher safe, with the blades and lid on the top rack. Vitamix is more specific, clearing only certain containers, so check your model.
There is no single rule for blenders. Ninja support materials list the plastic pitcher, lid and stacked blade assembly as dishwasher safe on several models, with the blade assembly removed from the pitcher first. Vitamix is more cautious: its care FAQ clears the S-Series 20 and 40 ounce containers for the top rack, and its guide says older containers were not dishwasher safe while newer ones can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Your manual decides.

How to wash a blender pitcher
- Unplug the blender and take the pitcher off the base.
- Remove the blade assembly if it comes out, and handle it carefully because it is sharp.
- Put the pitcher, lid and blades on the top rack if your manual allows it.
- Or fill the pitcher with warm water and a drop of dish soap and run it for about 30 seconds, then rinse.
- Wipe the base with a damp cloth and let every part dry.
What happens when you get it wrong
- Cloudy or warped plastic. Hot cycles near the heating element wear plastic pitchers over time.
- A dulled or damaged blade. Blades knocked about in the rack can wear, and they cut hands when you unload.
A warm water and soap blend, which Vitamix describes as its normal cleaning method.
Hand washing with a soft scrubber for stubborn residue.
